Meet our 2021 scholarship partners:
Anvil Media is a measurable marketing agency specializing in SEO, PPC and other high-value digital marketing strategies. Since inception, Anvil has committed to giving back to the local community, especially underserved populations via its Charity of Choice.
As a founding member of SEMpdx, they built a similar charitable giving component into the articles of incorporation for the trade association.
As an educational partner of Portland State University (PSU) the past 20 years, they’ve seen the impact of education on future digital marketing professionals and are excited to be able to directly support on-the-job training for young professionals from underserved communities.
Anvil has been doing work in this space for years and was an inaugural participating company in the Emerging Leaders internship program.
Avenue is s B Corp digital marketing agency for purpose-driven companies based in Portland, Oregon. Fostering a diverse and inclusive digital marketing community is a key priority of ours.
As a woman, BIPOC/AAPI led company, we’ve experienced first-hand the systemic barriers that are present in the marketing industry. We believe it is important to acknowledge that we have all grown up in and been shaped by institutions that have preserved systemic racism, such as schools, workplaces, government, financial institutions, places of worship and more.
Participating in this scholarship program is an opportunity that aligns with our values and other anti-racism initiatives to take action to make digital marketing education more accessible and to lay the groundwork for a more diverse, equitable and inclusive digital marketing industry in Oregon.
As a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), Emerging Small Business (ESB) and Certified B Corporation®, Avenue is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism across all facets of our business, and we continue to do the work to address systemic racism.
Last year they partnered with Prosper Portland and Mercatus to support 8 women and BIPOC entrepreneurs through digital marketing consultation and business support as well as business mentorship for 2 global student entrepreneurs from Costa Rica and China through the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) GSEA program. They also partner with the Emerging Leaders Internship and have sponsored PDXWIT (Portland Women in Tech) for the last 4 years. These are all initiatives they are continuing in 2021.
Gravitate is a digital marketing agency based in Vancouver, Washington. They believe our industry is made better through diversity and inclusion. It’s also the right thing to do. They’re committed to making this happen, both through participation in the scholarship program, as well as many internal initiatives they’ve been working on.
Why a Digital Marketing Scholarship?
We know that Portland, OR is one of the whitest cities in America. The tech and startup community is unfortunately no different. Despite that massive shortcoming, there’s a lot to love about both! Our city offers: four beautiful seasons, breweries, vineyards and distilleries for days and all the outdoor sports you can name. We have a lively arts culture and music scene, farmer’s markets of legend, and a community with meetup groups for just about anything you’re into.
As a member of the tech and startup community, Intuitive Digital is committed to encouraging Inclusion & Diversity in the city and the industry; this scholarship is one way we are walking our talk towards that commitment.
In addition to the city you can experience an award-winning tech startup that prioritizes creating a work-life balance for its employees, invests time and resources into volunteer work and community building, and likes to bond together over a glass of beer (or a mocktail, you do you).
