What We Did

Their old site looked outdated, but more importantly did not function correctly, directly impacting sales. Users were regularly unable to complete their purchase online and would need to call in to complete their order. Not only was this a poor experience for the user, it created a lot of additional work for the Compass Micro staff, answering calls and completing over-the-phone orders. 

Creating an easier and more efficient user experience was the main goal with this website. We created a highly customized site with a top notch search feature that functions by category and model. 

The site also contains exploded parts diagrams, current availability, special order notes, and flagged content for parts that can only be purchased by those with the required authorization.

A new, complex shipping table determines shipping costs with delivery options including overnight, 2-day and ground shipping. Shipping is calculated using total  purchase and delivery location including military addresses. 

Outcome

Immediately Compass Micro was able to confidently direct their customers to the website, reducing the number of phone orders and staff workload. They are able to offer multiple shipping options without worry that they are losing money on shipping. The staff can manage the online store – add products, update pricing, and process orders without workarounds or issues. The store will auto generate and email sales reports that feed to their accounting system, saving them manual entry time. Even though many of these things are normal ecommerce features, they either didn’t work or were problematic with their old site.
